OUR OFFICES

  • The Academic Achievement Center provides individualized and small-group academic skills training, course-based tutoring, and supplemental instruction. In addition to these services, the AAC also delivers Outreach Workshops on Learning Skills (OWLS), and runs the University Proctoring Lab.

  • Educational Opportunity Programs offers a suite of scholarship, mentoring, and academic skills programs supporting special populations of students. Initiatives include Department of Education-funded TRiO programs (McNair Scholars and Student Support Services), Campamento Hispano Abriendo Nuestro Camino a la Educación (CHANCE), and UNCG Guarantee.

  • New Student Transitions & First Year Experience provides all new students and their families with the information and access they need for a successful transition to UNCG. NST&FYE plans and implements SOAR, NAV1GATE, Rawkin’ Welcome Weeks, FYE 101: Succeed at the G, First-Year Success Series, Your First Year, and Your Sophomore Year programs.

  • The Office of Strategy and Innovation, a research-focused innovation lab for student success initiatives on our campus. OSI designs, seeks funding for, and pilots new support programs for potential scaling-up late. Current projects include the UNC-System funded Student Success Innovation Lab, two Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded projects (Powered by Publics, under the auspices of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities (APLU) and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Frontier Set initiative), and the Academic Success Coaching program, which is funded by the Edward M. Armfield and Cemela foundations.

  • The Students First Office, UNCG's academic one-stop-shop for assisting students with academic advising, academic recovery, university appeals, and graduation planning. The office is the central academic advising center for all exploratory majors and provides curricular support for all students in academic recovery.

  • The Transfer Promise Program, a new initiative aimed at making the transfer-student experience seamless, through our ‘articulation with collaboration’ approach. TPP is a true partnership between UNCG and is transfer-partner schools, with attention to curricula, data sharing, financial aid, and high-quality academic advising.

  • The University Speaking Center and University Writing Center provide communication support for students, faculty and staff, through one-on-one and group sessions focusing on dialogic feedback. The Centers support all projects regardless of how the writing/speaking will be composed/presented, or which digital platforms are used. Consulting sessions focus on conversations about the writing/speaking processes in a collaborative approach.
