Starfish Overview
Starfish EARLY ALERT is a student tracking and support system that is used at UNCG to provide a holistic approach to student success and retention. Starfish is located within Blackboard and can be accessed by clicking on the yellow Starfish tab. In order to keep students informed of academic progress and ensure student success, "flags" can be raised by instructors to let students know that he or she may need additional support in the class. Students are then connected to the appropriate individual who can assist them. In addition, instructors can raise "kudos" to congratulate students on their success.
Starfish CONNECT provides an easy and efficient way to set up office hours and make appointments to ensure an environment that allows students, faculty, and advisors to stay connected. Appointments can be made with instructors and advisors who have office hours in Starfish by logging in to Blackboard, clicking on the Starfish tab, and clicking on the individual's name to access available appointment times.
