Students who do not meet the requirements of Academic Good Standing will be placed on Academic Probation.

All students who land on Academic Probation are held to the following requirements:

  • Limit your enrollment to 16 semester hours every fall and spring term and 8 semester hours in the summer (4 hours per summer session) until Academic Good Standing is restored. While it is possible to take summer courses, you are strongly recommended to consult an advisor prior to registration.
  • Earn a minimum 2.30 term GPA every term until your cumulative GPA reaches the required 2.00

In addition to the requirements listed above, first-year students who fall on Academic Probation in their first year and new transfer students who fall on probation in their first term at UNCG are held to the following requirement:

  • Successfully complete the requirements of ARS 100

Failure to complete any of the previously mentioned requirements will result in Academic Suspension. If you restore a 2.00 cumulative GPA but do not earn 67% of your semester hours you will be placed on Academic Warning. Students who meet probationary requirements without restoring Academic Good Standing will be placed on Continuing Probation until the qualifications for Academic Good Standing are met.

In the Students First Office, we understand that students sometimes find themselves on Academic Probation because they have not connected to the many campus and academic resources available to support students. To learn more about the variety of services at UNCG, check out the Campus Resources page on the Students First Office website.
