Students who do not meet the GPA requirement of Academic Probation will be placed on Academic Suspension, are ineligible to continue enrollment at UNCG, and must sit out for one full semester (one fall or spring term). Students placed on Academic Suspension due to their spring performance are also ineligible to enroll in summer classes.
Students on Academic Suspension are held to the following requirements:
- Limit your enrollment to 16 semester hours every fall and spring term and 8 hours in the summer (4 hours per summer session) until Academic Good Standing is restored
- Earn a minimum 2.30 term GPA each term until a 2.00 cumulative GPA is restored
- Enroll in and successfully complete the requirements of the ARS 120 course (when required)
ARS 120
Students continuing at UNCG after receiving an approved Academic Suspension Appeal decision are on Continuing Probation after Academic Suspension. These students are registered for and required to complete ARS 120: Academic Connections in Education, during their next semester of enrollment.
Key components of ARS 120:
- Two meetings with your assigned Academic Recovery Coach
- Utilization of campus resources
- Small amount of online coursework
ARS 120 will help you:
- Establish a supportive relationship with your ARS coach
- Develop an academic and personal support network
- Learn to calculate your GPA and the GPA you need to restore Academic Good Standing
- Discover and utilize resources for achieving academic goals and personal success
- Increase awareness of university policy, resources, and success strategies
Failure to meet all ARS 120 requirements and terms of their probationary period can result in Academic Dismissal from UNCG.
Any student required to take ARS 120 will be enrolled by the Students First Office. If at any time you have questions about your participation, you may contact your assigned Academic Recovery Coach or [email protected].
