Course Withdrawal Policy
Undergraduate degree-seeking students who began at UNCG in fall 2014 or later will be limited to withdrawing from a maximum of 16 semester hours throughout their degree. This limitation does not include the following:
- Courses dropped during the schedule adjustment period each term (within the first five days in fall and spring terms and within the first two days in summer sessions)
- Total withdrawal (WT) from all courses prior to the posted withdrawal deadline for the term
- Courses withdrawn after the posted withdrawal deadline for the term, resulting in Withdraw Failing (WF) grades
- Courses withdrawn via an approved Appeal to Withdraw for Extenuating Circumstances (WE)
Before withdrawing from courses, students should always:
- Consult withdrawal deadlines, published on the University Registrar’s Office website
- Review UNCG’s Academic Standing Policy, as course withdrawals may have a negative impact on a student’s academic standing
- Review UNCG’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (for financial aid), as course withdrawals may have a negative impact on a student’s financial aid eligibility
Students are also strongly encouraged to consult their academic advisor prior to withdrawing from courses to avoid any unanticipated academic or financial consequences.
